Bartow-Pell Manor or How The Other Half Used To Live 1

A Mansion In The Bronx

I visited the former Bronx  home of Edgar Allan Poe last week and was somewhat taken aback by the poverty he lived in. Bartow-Pell mansion is the polar opposite of how Poe lived.
I have so many pictures I want to share that I will split this visit into two posts. The house and gardens are truly wonderful and I would urge anybody to visit.
Mansion:
Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
12 noon – 4 p.m.
$5 for adults
$3 for seniors & students
free for children under six
Carriage House:
April through October
Gardens/Grounds:
open daily from 8:30 a.m. to dusk,free
